How to preserve your jewelry

General care
Worn daily, kept for generations
To preserve the beauty of your jewelry, avoid exposure to harsh chemicals, extreme temperatures and direct sunlight. Remove your pieces during activities such as swimming or exercising to prevent damage.
In the Kingdom’s climate two things matter more than any other: take your jewelry off before the pool or the sea, and put it on last — after perfume, oud, sunscreen and hand cream have had a moment to settle.
A piece that is worn thoughtfully and cleaned once in a while will outlast all of us. That is, after all, the point of it.

Cleaning
For regular cleaning, brush your jewelry gently with a soft toothbrush in warm soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry with a soft cloth to restore its natural shine.
Enamel, pearls, coral and porous stones are the exception: wipe them only, never soak them.

Storage
Store each piece separately in its original pouch or box to prevent scratches. Fasten chains and lay them flat so they do not tangle.
Keep your jewelry away from humidity, direct sunlight and the inside of a hot car.

Inspection
Have your pieces professionally cleaned and inspected once a year, and more often for those worn every day.
An inspection confirms that claws, settings and clasps remain secure — long before a stone has the chance to move.
Material by material
Each material asks for something different
Our pieces bring gold, natural stones and hand-laid enamel together in the same design, so always treat a piece according to its most delicate element.
18K gold
Clean with a mild soap solution and a soft cloth. Avoid abrasive materials, which scratch the surface. 18K gold does not tarnish, but normal wear softens the polish — a soft cloth, or a professional polish once a year, brings it back.
Sterling silver
Silver oxidizes naturally with air and humidity. Use a silver polishing cloth to lift tarnish and restore the luster, and store silver in a closed pouch when it is not being worn to slow the process down.
Diamonds
Diamonds attract oils from skin and cosmetics, which is what dulls them. Warm soapy water and a soft brush behind the setting, where the light enters, restores the brilliance. Check the claws once a year.
Colored stones
Turquoise, malachite, lapis lazuli, agate and onyx are softer and more porous than diamonds. Wipe them with a slightly damp cloth and dry immediately. Never use an ultrasonic cleaner, and keep them away from perfume, chlorine and household products.
Pearls, mother-of-pearl and coral
These are organic and the most delicate materials we work with. Put them on last, take them off first, and wipe them with a soft dry cloth after wearing to remove traces of perspiration and perfume. Never soak them, and store them away from harder stones.
Enamel
Enamel is laid and fired by hand, and it can chip if knocked or dropped. Keep it away from alcohol-based products and acidic environments, and clean it with a soft, slightly damp cloth only — no brushes, no soaking, no ultrasonic cleaners.
Always
- Put your jewelry on last, after perfume, oud, lotion and hairspray have dried.
- Wipe each piece with a soft cloth at the end of the day.
- Store pieces separately, in their pouch or box.
- Fasten chains and lay them flat.
- Have daily-wear pieces inspected once a year.
Never
- Swim, shower or exercise in your jewelry — chlorine, salt and perspiration all dull the shine.
- Soak enamel, pearls, coral or porous colored stones.
- Use ultrasonic or steam cleaners on anything but plain gold.
- Clean with alcohol, bleach, acetone or household detergents.
- Leave pieces loose in a bag, a drawer or a hot car.
Traveling
Packing a collection
Use a dedicated travel case with individual compartments. Avoid storing several pieces together to prevent scratching, and keep them away from moisture, sunlight and hard surfaces.
Fasten every clasp before packing — a fastened chain laid flat will not knot. Carry your jewelry with you rather than in checked luggage, and if you are traveling with a valued piece, bring the invoice or valuation with you.
Back home, give each piece a wipe before it goes back into its pouch. Sand, chlorine and sunscreen are more damaging in combination than any of them alone.

A professional clean and polish returns a worn finish to the day you bought it. Recommended annually for pieces worn every day.
Jewelry repair
Clasps, chains, settings and stones, repaired by the craftsmen who made the piece. Usually 7 to 14 business days from the moment we receive it.
Upcycling & remodeling
An inherited piece that is never worn can be redesigned into one that is. We work with your own gold and stones wherever possible.
